Willkommen auf der Homepage der Free Software Foundation Europe. Die FSFE beschäftigt sich seit dem 10. März 2001 aus europäischer Sicht mit allen Aspekten Freier Software. Sie unterstützt insbesondere das GNU-Projekt, leistet aber auch für die Entwicklung und Verbesserung anderer Freier Software und GNU-basierter Systeme wie GNU/Linux einen wichtigen Beitrag. Weiterhin stellt sie ein Kompetenzzentrum für Politiker, Anwälte und Journalisten zur Verfügung, um die juristische, politische und gesellschaftliche Zukunft Freier Software zu gewährleisten.

Die Arbeit der FSFE wird durch die Beiträge vieler Einzelner ermöglicht, insbesondere durch das Fellowship der FSFE. Wenn auch Sie etwas zum großen Ganzen der FSFE beitragen wollen, können Sie jetzt beitreten und andere dazu zu ermutigen, das auch zu tun.

Open Standards have continued to dominate discussions in ICT with the MS-OOXML proposal being accepted by ISO as a standard. FSFE and numerous other parties have observed this process from the beginning and have reason to be concerned about the state of international standardisation. The European Commission has fined Microsoft an additional 899 million Euro for continuing to restrict access to interoperability information prior to October 2007 and the ISO Ballot Resolution Meeting in Geneva failed to address most of the serious issues and ultimately ended up waving through the bulk of ECMA responses without review. Public awareness of issues relating to software freedom have been raised dramatically. [Mehr...] Petition calls for Open Standards in the European Parliament 2008-03-06 At a time when the EU Commission investigates the anti-competitive behaviour of a market-dominant player, the European Parliament (EP) still imposes that same specific software choice on both the European Union's citizens and its own MEPs. OpenForum Europe, The European Software Market Association, and the Free Software Foundation Europe today launched a petition to call on the EP to use Open Standards so that all citizens can participate in the democratic process. Nächste Veranstaltungen Linuxwochen, Wien, Österreich 2008-05-15 2008-05-17 Im Rahmen der österreichischen Linuxwochen findet vom 15. bis zum 17. Mai 2008 eine Veranstaltung im Gewerbehaus der Wirtschaftskammer, Rudolf-Sallinger-Platz 1 im 3. Bezirk in Wien statt. Eine Gruppe von Fellows der FSFE wird einen Stand betreuen, and dem sie über die FSFE, das Fellowship und über Freie Software im allgemeinen informiert. Der Eintritt ist zur gesamten Veranstaltung frei. Fellowship-Stammtisch in Wien 2008-05-17 Der dreiundzwanzigste österreichische Fellowship-Stammtisch wird in die Linuxwochen Wien integriert. Fellows und andere Interessierte treffen sich während der gesamten Veranstaltung am Stand der FSFE zu interessanten Diskussionen, und am Ende des letzten Tages nehmen wir an der Linuxwochen-After-Show-Party teil. LinuxTag 2008, Berlin, Germany 2008-05-28 2008-05-31 As in the last years FSFE will be present with a booth at LinuxTag 2008. It takes place at Berlin's Expo Center under the Funkturm. FSFE will inform visitors about various aspects of Free Software, like the Freedom Task Force, software patents, the SELF project, GPLv3, our work in the United Nations, or the Fellowship of FSFE. Also it is planned to sell T-shirts from FSFE and books about Free Software. 'Strategic implementation of Free Software in business' speech at eLiberatica 2008-05-30 Shane Coughlan, FTF coordinator, will deliver a speech entitled 'Strategic implementation of Free Software in business' at the eLiberatica conference in Romania on the 30th of May. eLiberatica second edition 2008-05-30 2008-05-31 The second eLiberatica takes place on 30 and 31 May 2008 in the World Trade Center Bucharest, Romania.
